The JWM will return in July 2016, offering yet again a prestigious event platform in the Great Lakes region for which the best riders in Australia can come and compete for their respective division title of the 2016 Jeff Wilcox Memorial!

It’s already shaping up to be an unforgettable event!

As competitors start arriving anticipation is growing for the JWM next weekend. The long range forecast is for waves 3-6ft which has riders very excited. Great waves combined with great riders will make for some of the best bodyboarding the Jeff Wilcox Memorial and Australia has ever seen.

The man behind the memorial

Jeff Wilcox was a young man with a bright future. He was a brilliant local sportsman with amazing potential, excelling in bodyboarding and hockey. Sadly, Jeff passed away from a very aggressive cancer aged 14 and left a legacy behind.

Starting as a simple memorial bodyboarding competition in honour of Jeff, it quickly evolved into one of the most respected and prestigious competitions held in the sport of bodyboarding. The best riders from all around the world have come to the Great Lakes area to compete in this event in the past and that is why this event still commands the respect it holds today. Past winners include Ash Murray, Troy De Coque, Ben Holland, Ben Player, Andrew Lester, Damien King, Levi Wagner and Mitch Rawlins to name a few.
